Palm Beach, known as the "Gold
Coast" is golden when it comes to offshore fishing. It’s no secret
the waters off Jupiter and Palm Beach are known as “Sailfish Alley”.
Palm Beach inlet is one of the safest inlets in Florida for boaters to
navigate. The "drop"- a common term in South Florida refers to the drop
off in the continental self which occurs at 120 feet of water is mere 2
miles from shore. From 75 feet to 200 hundred is the preferred
depth range when targeting Sailfish and King Mackerel, Cobia, Amberjack,
Snapper and Grouper.
Dolphin, Wahoo, and at times Marlin and Tuna are available out in the
Gulf Stream. Very often the western edge the "stream" will push
right up to the beach, creating a fishing condition that rivals remote
tropical locations.
The beaches from Lake Worth, to north of Jupiter Inlet are consistent
producers and provide light tackle and fly anglers steady action.
Tarpon, Permit and Jack Crevalle are welcome adversaries along the
beaches and shallow wrecks.
Spectacular Snook and Tarpon fishing can take place in the deep water
inside Palm Beach inlet, dredged to allow the safe passage of cruise
ships, it can reach depths of more than 40 feet. The "turning basin" and
"the boil" remain two of many "hot spots" located near by. Peanut Island
will provide a safe haven for those looking to set up shop on the
leeward side of the wind. Live bait produces best hear due to the heavy
boat traffic.
John
Macarthur Park on Singer Island has a rocky shoreline and attracts loads
of Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, Pompano, Ladyfish, Blue Runners and more
during the winter months. Surf fishing in this area is productive as
well. Spinner Sharks love to feed on Bluefish can be tussled with here.
A live Bluefish or Blue Runner flown from a kite is a spectacular way to
attract Sharks.
